On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, representatives of the Dogs Trust Foundation in BiH paid a visit to the FBiH Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) in order to present a donation worth about 7,500 convertible marks in the form of supplies and materials that will be used to improve the well-being of the working dogs of this institution and the valuable team members who care for them.
On this occasion, a meeting was held with the Director of the FUCZ, Mr. Aldin Brašnić and other members of the team and the management of this institution, whereby a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed which defines the aspects of cooperation in advocating for humane and responsible treatment of all dogs, pointing in particular to the immeasurable value of demining and search dogs, which often play a key role in saving human lives.
During their visit, representatives of the Dogs Trust visited and met these four-legged heroes who were most pleased with the treats and toys that are part of this donation.
"The importance of using trained dogs in search and demining operations is indisputable because one dog can replace a larger number of rescuers by searching the same terrain four times faster. Thanks to a refined and strong sense of smell, as well as special training, this type of dog has a ninety percent better chance of finding a missing person, while humans only achieve a forty percent probability of finding a missing person," Director Brašnić told us.
The FBiH Civil Protection Administration has staff in its team trained for demining operations and performing complex protection and rescue actions, and eight furry team members, namely four demining and four search dogs who have repeatedly proven their loyalty and commitment to their noble work.
Since 2012, the Dogs Trust Foundation in BiH, through its programmes and other activities, within its mission and available resources and capacities, has been helping local communities and competent actors to take the initiative and establish a responsible, humane and systematic way of managing the dog population in order to reach the day when man's best friend is always well taken care of and will never be abandoned to live without the much-needed care and love of people.
