On Saturday, September 14, 2024, the Dogs Trust BiH Foundation organized a large gathering for dog owners and lovers, children, parents and other citizens at Wilson's Promenade in Sarajevo with the aim of strengthening the Initiative for responsible acquisition and keeping of pets, animal care, and a humane, legal and systemic approach to solving the problems of abandoned dogs permanently and sustainably in the capital city and Canton of Sarajevo.
Cold weather did not prevent a large number of animal friends from participating in this gathering, where special guests were members of the Helem Nejse group and a foster dog that sings – Ziggy. Otherwise, supporters of animal welfare and progressive views on the attitude towards nature and animals and proud ambassadors and friends of the Dogs Trust Foundation, members of the Helem Nejse group organized a fun and educational quiz "What Sarajevo knows about dogs", and, to our great satisfaction, it turned out that the citizens of Sarajevo largely know the nature of dogs and support their well-being and the responsibility towards man's best friend.
Within the event, 15 main prizes were given through the prize draw, as follows:
· 5 vouchers for services in the veterinary station Ketti, pet shop "Svijet ljubimaca" and grooming service Ketti
· 5 Dogs Trust comfortable, quality dog beds
· 5 special waterproof car mats
Other visitors left the event happy with useful gifts, while throughout the event the youngest members of society learned about safety around dogs and received useful gifts. In addition to wonderful memories, friends had the opportunity to make their own video booth to share on social networks.
The Dogs Trust Foundation Sarajevo supports the establishment and implementation of a humane system for managing the dog population for over 12 years, targeting a sustainable and humane solution as the only guarantee that the problem will not recur. We are proud of achievements that have contributed to positive changes in the awareness and behavior of dog owners, in the veterinary profession for small animals whose capacities have grown incomparably since the beginning of our engagement, to the numerous citizens who have decided to adopt a dog, to children who largely know the principles of safety with dogs and to all citizens who better understand the roles and advocate for a progressive system and humane attitude towards animals and responsibility towards nature.
