About me

MILKY is a very special dog rescued at the Potočari Memorial Center. He survived thanks to Amra Begić Fazlić, who stood up for him and helped him when it was most difficult, and he was included in our program at the initiative of the British Embassy, who met him during a visit to Potočari, so that Milky could finally have a well-deserved happy life!

This smart dog, with a warm and gentle nature, is infinitely innocent and full of trust despite the hardships he has survived in just over a year of his life. He is a black labrador type mix, and has an interesting white patch on his chest. He is happy to approach people, sits down himself and allows himself to be petted. He loves children very much, and he doesn't chase cats and gives them their space. Milky is very fond of walks and nature trips, and by nature he is a calm dog who has the confidence to be alone in a room without barking or making a mess. This also makes him suitable for working families who want to give him lots of love and great care, and promise him that he will never be abandoned again. In return, Milky will surely give at least twice as much!

Milky, a dog from Potočari who will never be a "stray" again!

Milky is a dog with a warm, gentle nature, endlessly innocent and full of trust despite the difficulties he went through in Potočari in just over a year of his life, where he was rescued weak and injured by a wonderful person, Amra Fazlić Begić. After the generous initiative of the British Embassy in Sarajevo and inclusion in the Dogs Trust program, his worries and troubles finally came to an end.

When you read Amra's story about Milky, you will find it hard to believe that humans deserve creatures like dogs! Well, wonderful people still deserve, and every day anew with gratitude enjoy these noble beings who can teach us so much about loyalty, and endless and unconditional love!

Amila's story

"I don't know how to start this story, but it certainly happened by chance, or maybe it wasn't, maybe I just happened to meet him that day. I just finished my interview for the project "Lives beyond the fields of death" a story about life, death and loss. Otherwise, it is difficult to turn your thoughts to the other side. It wasn't like that that day. I go out and there is a ball in front of me. Repic waves and barely gets up, but he gets up. I have nothing to give him, but he still follows me, all the way to my car. Several times I try to move him away from the edge of the street, but we're already hanging out and he suddenly lies down, he can't go any further. We look at each other and suddenly I think it's best to put him in the car and tie him up with me. We arrive at the Memorial and I tell my colleagues that it is the same puppy that has been there for a couple of days. Of course I'm lying, and they know it too, because what was there before is now approaching us. But we are here and we are not going anywhere. I feed him, we cuddle, and then Mirela joins us, then Almasa, Dzhanum, Emir.... One day at a time, he is ours. It's getting bigger, more beautiful, and it's not going away. Sometimes some other czuko comes, but they come and go. He stays. With spring, the number of visitors to the museum increases, so our donkey (as we called him) follows the groups, sometimes he thinks we are in danger, so he barks bravely behind us, but he is there and looks after his own. Only, not everyone is happy to have a dog following them, not everyone likes Milki (that's what I called him), sometimes they chase him, he gets scared and barks again... Some colleagues insist that he leave, and I understand, but I don't put him on the street. We're trying to place him in a local shelter, but it's full... I'm writing to whoever I can reach, please.... someone who understands how to love paws... and it's because of that someone that Milki is where he is today, maybe he still isn't happy, maybe he thinks I betrayed him, maybe he's waiting for me. And I, I hope that our meeting is his chance to live the best life he can... Wherever he comes, wherever he goes, at least he knows that someone once loved him... We still love him even if he can't find his happiness somewhere else, this little we can offer him will always be waiting for him..."

If you think that Milky could be the dog for you, and you are ready to give him a happy home, lots of attention and love, and good care and concern for the rest of his life, apply!
