Dogs Trust and the City of Trebinje organized an event to promote the humane Dog Population Management System

s part of the comprehensive support to the local community in Trebinje, Dogs Trust, in cooperation with the City Administration of Trebinje, organized an event for the public on Saturday, May 25, 2024 – for dog owners and dog lovers, but also children, parents, and all citizens who support the humane, legal and permanent resolution of the problem of stray dogs.

The event is the culmination of the five-week hosting of the Dogs Trust Dog School in Trebinje and a joint media campaign for promotion of responsible dog ownership as a key measure for a sustainable system for managing the dog population, and a safe and happy community with happy dogs in it.

On this occasion, Dogs Trust Foundation, which otherwise finances the mass neutering of stray dogs with additional veterinary treatment (rabies vaccine, treatment against intestinal parasites, microchip and stamp), and neutering of owned dogs, donated to the city four microchip readers, as well as four transport cages for dogs, in order to support better supervision of owned dogs, and humane dog transport within the legal and humane System.

Dogs Trust also announced the opening of its Education Programme for School Children on Safety with Dogs from September 2024, while the City, as part of a joint campaign, called on dog owners who have not yet done so, to fulfill their legal obligation and microchip their pets, and 50% of the cost for the first 100 owners who report to the Anima Vet clinic is financed by the City.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was also signed, confirming the commitment of the City of Trebinje to continue to work consistently on sustainable and humane resolution of the problem of stray dogs, and the commitment of Dogs Trust Foundation to assist in this within its available resources and capacities.

The City of Trebinje participates in financing and cooperates with the humane, transitional shelter "Danica" as an important part of the System, which also adopts smart and socialized dogs, whose members also spent time with us.

The event was attended by numerous visitors, who also participated in an interactive presentation on dog body language, and watched the demonstration of the Dogs Trust trainer and his dog, and the youngest visitors enjoyed the Dogs Trust educational and entertaining workshop and learned about how to be as safe as possible around dogs and in contact with them.

There was also a prize draw, so the luckiest participants won Dogs Trust dog beds and car seat covers, and everyone who came to the gathering also left with a nice memory and a useful gift.
